The main function of Skype is internet calling and video. Skype would be much improved by making them more clear and user-friendly. The options aren’t great - the format is very traditional and we’ve seen better ways of dealing with settings in 2019. Nobody will argue that it’s beautiful, but it’s clear to see what you need to do and relatively easy to find your way around the functions. Visually, Skype is acceptable and functional.
In recent years, Microsoft’s classic has made real attempts to slim down and speed up, but unfortunately, it still leaves us a little cold. Like many old-school apps, though, it gained a lot of bloat and a bad reputation as other, faster apps came on the market. Switching between different conversations in the app and sending a message does feel slow at times.
Even worse, once you do open the photo by clicking it, you can't zoom it in or do anything besides saving it. This prevents you from looking at an image and messaging to someone about it. The apps functionality is pretty solid, although there is one thing we find annoying, which is that you are almost unable to see the image someone sent you without opening it, as the thumbnail for it is pretty small. The major part of the window is reserved for the actual chat, which doesn't offer anything you aren't used to, if you are familiar with Messenger, WhatsApp, or Snapchat. Above you can see your profile icon which opens various settings when you click it. You can see your recent chats at the left part of the screen. The app's interface feels somewhat empty. The design of the app is as simple as it gets, with grayscale design or white design mixed with light blue color, famous for Skype. Those days are gone as every other app has a video-call feature, but nonetheless let's see how Skype keeps up on the Windows platform. It was used worldwide by families, friends, and businessmen trying to hold a long-distance meetings.
